Community Safety Advisory Service (CSAS)

London Action Trust obtained funding from the Association of London Government to set up a second tier project (Community Safety Advisory Service).

CSAS supports the capacity building of voluntary sector and community organisations to enable their participation in the reduction of crime across London.

What does CSAS do?

Photo : CSASThe service co-ordinates, capacity builds and develops new and existing community safety organisations in London.

CSAS employs two Project Co-ordinators who have joint responsibility for delivering a quality service across Greater London.

We will link in with the London wide Neighbourhood Wardens working group to examine common issues and further partnership working.

The project began in September 2002 and is funded initially for 3 years renewable annually.

CSAS offers three levels of support to voluntary organisations and community groups that are interested in crime reduction and are based in and delivering services in Greatrer London, these are;

  • General support such as newsletters, Funding and Development Information Service (FADIS), information factsheets, telephone and email support
  • Training courses, consisting of three one day courses on Fundraising Strategy and Funders, Partnership Working and Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Individual support, this has included supporting the London Boroughs of Lewisham and Croydon Youth and Crime Units and also the applicants who were unsuccesful in their community safety bidding to the Association of London Government.
