How to Book
Effectively Chairing Meetings
This course will cover
- how to plan and prepare to chair committee meetings, AGMs and larger meetings (including tasks to be completed before, during and after the meeting)
- the chair’s responsibilities, legal powers and the procedural rules for holding meetings plus
- tips on how to deal with difficult situations.
Learning Outcomes:
- gain the knowledge and confidence to successfully chair a meeting so it gets through the agenda on time and is able to make and record appropriate decisions
- learn about the legal and procedural rules to chair and control Management Committee, AGMS and larger meetings (including tips for chairing challenging behaviour and meetings), so they achieve their objectives in the allotted time.
- Improve your ability to plan and prepare for meetings to ensure they are successful and decisions are actioned
Who should attend?
Anyone who:-
- Chairs (or wants to chair) meetings,
- Wants to develop their skills,
- Has to deal with challenging behaviour or situations at meetings

- free of charge for small charities and voluntary organisations who receive the LAT Newsletter.
- £120 to Statutory\Private sector organisations.

How to Book
Writing and understanding charity annual reports
This course will cover:
- how to create a charity’s annual report (including formatting the report, deciding on appropriate headings and sub headings)
- how to prepare the financial statement and balance sheet
- the essential regulatory requirements of the charity’s S.O.R.P (Statement of Recommended Practice)
Learning Outcomes
- Develop the confidence to prepare or understand a charity’s annual report,
- Gain a basic knowledge of the regulatory requirements of S.O.R.P (statement of recommended practice)
- Understand how to create and make sense of the financial statement and balance sheet
- Find out how to use the report to inform stakeholders of progress, meet accountability standards, and raise funds
Trainees will also:
- have the opportunity to prepare an annual report for their charity and
- may bring an old annual report for comment or feedback.

Project officers, Trustees and anyone who has to prepare or understand a charity’s annual report, financial statement or balance sheet
