London Action Trust has secured funding from London Probation Trust as part of the PIANO project (Providing Innovative and New Opportunities) to offer Belief in Work (BIW) mentoring to ex-offenders. PIANO is funded by the European Social Fund and consists of 15 community partners who are working to increase the employability and skills development of ex-offenders. Belief in Work (BIW) recruits volunteers from local faith communities and matches them 1:1 for a 3 month period with ex-offenders either in the community or in custody. Volunteers receive 3 days accredited training, ongoing supervision and support to fulfil their role. Mentees are given a choice as to whether they wish to be matched with a volunteer from the same faith community and have the opportunity to achieve an Open College Network accredited award in ‘Preparation for Work’. For further information about the project contact the Project Administrator: Karen Quallo – karen.quallo@lat.org.uk tel: 020 7793 3717 or the Mentoring Co-ordinator: Natasha Bryce-Grey – natasha.bryce-grey@lat.org.uk tel: 07804 148887
