Our Work: Community Payback

The Community Payback (Essex) project is funded by the Skills Funding Agency and run in partnership with Essex Probation; it has recently been awarded funding to continue with a third year of delivery. Our trained assessors visit Community Payback projects all over Essex - we work with Probation offices in Basildon Grays, Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend and Harlow. Participants are able to earn a qualification while they complete their community payback order. The qualification is accredited from the Open College Network, and requires no extra hours from the learner. The assessor offers the participant a choice of qualifications.

Currently offered are:

  • Health and Safety
  • Teamwork Skills
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Carpentry Hand Skills
  • Developing Skills in Garden Horticulture
  • Use and Main Woodworking Tool
  • Using Painting Skills for Interior Ceilings and Walls

Participants see obtaining a qualification as a way to improve their lives and can lead to work and/or further courses undertaken at college.
